This is because life insurance (and other appropriate forms of insurance) acts as a „failover“ that provides the funds necessary to carry out the budget in the event of an unexpected death. In my many years in the life insurance discussion, I have identified five main types of people in need of life insurance most urgently:

Individuals with financial dependencies
Individuals who have shared financial commitments with others
Individuals who have financial plans for the benefit of others
Individuals who are predisposed to adverse health conditions (due to inheritance or genetics)
Individuals in dangerous jobs

People with financial dependencies

The first category of people in need of life insurance are those with loved ones of all kinds. This includes some of your usual actors – married couples with a spouse being the breadwinner or a single parent.

Another typical but lesser-known candidate is housewives, as their untimely death can create unforeseen childcare costs. Other candidates can be married or single family members who support elderly parents or other loved ones.

Finally, the candidates can include benefactors who consistently and decisively support causes and organizations that are close to their hearts.

Individuals with Joint Financial Obligations
Joint debts of spouses are a prime example here. If you and your partner own a home together, take out life insurance – this covers your housing costs in the event of your partner’s premature death.

People in this category can also include unmarried couples who jointly enter into rental contracts, car finance agreements, and even mortgages on a home or income-generating rental property. The same type of agreement can exist between a parent and a child, sibling or close friend.

You should also get life insurance if you have other types of debt, such as debt insurance. Co-signed a student loan or a consumer loan debt to protect your co-signer from paying the entire bill.

Finally, business loans that are personally guaranteed by an individual or by business partners can lead to joint liabilities.

Individuals who have financial plans for the benefit of others
This is where the concept of life insurance comes into play, „closing the plan“.

For example, when I sit down with clients to discuss college planning for their children, we discuss, among other things, the types of schools the family is considering, the funds available for college savings, and the investment vehicles available to carry out the strategy (i.e. 529 plans, post-tax investments, etc.) and the investment schedule. Scenarios are then evaluated to determine the effectiveness of one strategy over another and a course of action selected.

should seem obvious, but it is far too often that I walk into the homes of police officers, firefighters, correctional officers, and emergency responders only to find that many of them are severely underinsured. They are doing extremely dangerous work where the prospect of not coming home at the end of a shift is very real. Adequate coverage not only provides greater security for customers when they walk out the door, but also for their family.
